This is probably the most under-rated of all the Society’s waters. One and a half miles of superb fishing opportunity with big barbel, roach, chub and pike in an unpressured environment. If you have yet to do battle with a big river pike, this stretch is just waiting to expand your experience. Hook one of these Loddon monsters and you may give up stillwater piking for good !
The venue is split into two distinct types of water, a deep slow-moving stretch above the mill, a narrow, fast flowing back-stream. Species include Bream to 5lb, Chub to over 7lb 4oz, Barbel to over 16lb 10oz, Common Carp to over 20lb, Mirror Carp to 27lb 11oz and Roach. In recent years Barbel have populated the Loddon in far greater numbers, and can be found in the upstream and side stream areas. Pike, Eels and other species are also present. The flow in the river has increased following the lowering of the water level by some two feet and this should improve the fishing on this water.
Suitable for most river tactics, although the venue is largely shallow with fast shallow runs into deeper areas.
Fish the deeper areas and glides for consistent sport and check out the over hanging trees and rafts for the Chub.
June to January 2010:
Colin Rane caught a 11lb 4oz Barbel on 1st July.

- Fishing is on the upstream left hand bank for approximately 1.5 miles. The left bank of the back-stream from the ‘tumbling bay’ down to the fence is also on the ticket. (The weir itself is private.)
- There is now a fence and gate at the Mill end of the fishery, this must be locked at all times even if it is open on your arrival.
- Note this venue is no longer a day ticket water.
- Camping is not permitted, but night fishing is allowed with bivouacs and brollys.
Sindlesham Mill, River Loddon Road Closure

FAS Fishing Rights Unchanged at River Loddon Carters Hill and Sindlesham Mill
Farnham Angling Society would like to reaffirm that it retains full fishing rights for the River Loddon at Carter's Hill
and Sindlesham Mill and that there is no change to this venue which remains on the FAS permit for the 2010/2011 season.
The Society is currently disputing a third parties claim to the fishing rights on a section of the river at this venue, on which FAS
have held the fishing rights for over 60 years. The Society's solicitors are dealing with this matter and are confident that the
matter will be resolved in due course.
Member's are requested to ignore any signs that may be put up by third parties claiming ownership of the fishing rights at this venue
and to report any challenges to the Chairman, Richard Cane on 01252 - 721105.
