When I reeled in the following morning, I had found some lobworms under a big branch, so I put on a fresh bunch of ten lobworms.I cast it about 30 yards popped them up 2 feeet in 4 feet of water and 10 minutes later it roared off and I played it for about ten minutes before Jay Clark netted it. Thanks Jay."

  • Pike 25lb 10oz caught by David Cleever from Mill Lane on 24th February 2013, who added "Fishing peg 37 the pike took my smelt about 30mts out and just bolted, alarm singing I picked up the rod, pike still taking line. I flicked over the bail arm and lifted the rod and she was on. Came in very easy, just made 2 or 3 lunges at the net, but a really nice condition fish. The pike in mill lane are getting big and I love it!"

  • A 60lb net of Bream from Badshot Lea Big Pond caught by Milen Petrov on 8th April 2013, who said "I had a great day today. Started to fish at around 9 in the morning. Till 12:30 I got 11 Bream, 4-5 pounds each! And I got my new Tench record !!! I arrived at peg 66 around 8:40 in the morning , already knew that cage feeder at around 45 turns will produce me full net of big bream so I decided to to ensure my huge daily catch and at the start of the session I dropped 2 full big cages of fishmeal groundbite and 2 mm pellets. Today I wanted to stretch my pole elastic as well so I cup 4 small sized balls at 11 meters and prepare a line with 0.12 mm (4 pounds) main line and 4x14 (0.4 g) float. I hooked 3 pinky maggots on a size 18 hook, change the cage with the smallest one I had (15g) and shoot the cage feeder in the water. While waiting for a bite I worked on my margins. I load them with two method feeders full of 2mm pellets as i expected them to bring me a larger fish. I got a bite on the feeder in 10 minutes and first nice 4lb bream went in to the keep net.Bites went regular on every 20 to 25 minutes. I was checking my pole and method lines every half an hour but they produce their first fishes more than two hours later. Two breams on the pole and nice tench on the method ended up my session at 12 noon with 11 breams and a tench. It was a pretty good day for me.

Photographic Competition and Copyright Information

The Executive Committee has decided that the Society will run a competition for the best photographs for the following categories:

  1. Best photograph of a specimen fish (Junior & Senior Competition
  2. Best photograph of a net of fish (Junior & Senior Competition)
  3. Best fishery/landscape photograph (All Members)
  4. Best wildlife photograph (All Members)

The competition will be based on a calendar year, not the season, so that entries may be judged before the Annual General Meeting in February at which the prizes will be awarded. Complimentary permits for the following season will be awarded to the winners of each category at the AGM, runners up shall receive FAS clothing.

This year’s competition will run from 1st January 2012 and all entries for this year, for all categories, will need to be submitted by 7th January 2013 and remember that you may enter as many times as you wish, so keep sending us your photographs !

For reasons of Copyright, we must bring the following to your attention.
All entrants/ photographers will retain copyright and moral rights to their submitted images however, by entering, all entrants grant Farnham Angling Society (FAS), permanent non-exclusive rights to use the images to promote FAS, to use in any FAS publications and FAS advertising campaigns or for any similar future FAS use.

If you or the photographer does not want to grant these rights, please do not submit your contribution to us and withdraw any submission already made by return of email.

FAS WEB SITE
If the photographs are considered acceptable for web use, they will be put in the current year entries for the Photographic Competition Gallery. After the winners are announced at next years Annual General Meeting, all photographs will be placed within the various galleries: Fishery, Junior, Wildlife, Landscape and Species and if appropriate the Specimen Trophies Gallery.

We will aim to post entries, if accepted, on the web site within 14-21 days and possibly sooner.
