Warning! Help Us Protect Our Fisheries:
Carp killing Virus outbreak confirmed at CEMEX Burghfield Oct 29th 2007.

The deadly Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) which infects and kills carp has been identified in a nearby water resulting in a massive fish mortality.

The EA & DEFRA have imposed control orders and closed the fishery, however it is possible the disease may spread to other waters in the area.

KHV can infect and kill 90% of the carp stock of a water. There is no treatment or cure. To stop it getting infecting any FAS waters and destroying our treasured fish stocks, the following rules will be enforced on ALL Farnham Angling Society Waters:

  • KEEPNETS ARE NOW BANNED
  • DRY ALL NETS, SLINGS & MATS: Landing nets, unhooking mats etc must be dry on entering the fishery

There are no exceptions to this rule, which is effective immediately until further notice.

Entering this fishery with any wet equipment will result in the loss of your permit.

Just one wet item may kill all the fish in a fishery, so it is essential that you comply with this rule and help to keep this fishery disease free, even if you have not fished at the infected fishery. Click here for more information on how to prevent disease spread.

Thank you for your co-operation.
