What do I need to bring along?
All items of tackle listed below (and on pages 10-11 of members handbook), will be needed for you to get your handbook stamped. Any non-members who attend will be given a Pike teach-in ID card as proof that they have attended a Farnham Angling Society Pike Teach-in. It’s also a good idea to wear something suitable as you will be required to handle a live Pike.

Tackle Guide:
Here’s the items of tackle that members must use and we recommend are used for safe Pike fishing:

  • Main line: Of a minimum 15lb breaking strain.
  • Traces: A wire trace of at least 24 inches (60cm) and not less than 25lb breaking strain.
  • Nylon covered traces, unless stainless steel are banned on FAS waters.
  • Landing Net: A large (minimum 36inch arms) knot-less landing net.
  • Large Unhooking Mat.
  • 12in Long artery forceps.
  • Side cutters able to cut problem hooks.
  • An adequate Carp/Pike weigh sling.
  • A sensitive and effective bit indicator system, which shows “drop-backs” as well as runs.
  • Max of 2 treble hooks per trace (semi-barbless or barbless only)

Remember: Entry to FAS Pike Teach-ins is free and open to all. You don’t even have to book to attend.
