Set in the picturesque woodland of Alice Holt Forest, Lodge offers superb fishing in very pleasant surroundings. This can be an easy Carp water which provides a good starting point for newcomers to the sport, and achievable targets for those with limited fishing time. The thousands of small fish of various species present also make the three acre pond a firm favourite with pleasure anglers.
We remind all FAS members of the absolute necessity to:
  1. Ensure that the main access gates to Alice Holt are closed and secured when the site is closed to the general public. The opening hours of Alice Holt, which change through the year, are shown on a notice board as you approach the gates when you go in.
  2. Ensure that you close and lock the inner barrier gate, by the Rangers hut, whenever you pass through it.
  3. Ensure at all times that you drive at no more than the 10mph speed limit down the forestry tracks within the site, and maintain the utmost courtesy to all others that use those tracks, especially pedestrians, cyclist and horses.
  4. Please ensure that you all of your litter, as on all other FAS run fisheries, is kept securely in your possession and is taken home with you at the end of your fishing session.
IMPORTANT: 10mph Speed Limit & Regular Speed Checks
Members must abide by the 10mph speed limit at all times along the forest track as pedestrians, dog walkers, joggers and cyclists use it. The 10mph speed limits is enforced by speed checks, anyone caught speeding will have their permit removed and your entitlement to fish Lodge Pond will cease. In addition, you will face disciplinary action which will lead to you being Suspended or Expelled from the Society. Follow the signs towards the FAS car park. The lake is 100m walk away. Do not park in the garden centre car park, the gateway immediately opposite or the narrow lay-by on the A325, as unauthorised vehicles may be towed away or wheel clamped. Members are reminded that the benefit we have as Members to park may only be used whilst fishing, not when visiting the venue for any other purpose.
IF ANYONE IS FOUND NOT DOING SO THEY WILL FACE THE SEVEREST PENALTIES AT A DISCIPLINARY HEARING.
Members attention is drawn to the Joe Marshall Memorial Shield which is awarded for the best specimen fish of any species caught from the pond each year. Lodge is a prolific water containing most species of coarse fish. Roach and Bream predominate; Tench and Pike can be expected also. This water contains a large head of Carp to 30lb.

Tackle and Tactics

One of our most popular venues, Lodge Pond offers excellent estate lake fishing for Carp, Bream and silver fish.

Bottom tactics for Carp are the norm with the Chod Rig being very popular and offering excellent presentation in the deep silt, with groundbait sticks or pellet bags coming a close second.

Bream come easily to either the feeder or the waggler and can give hectic sport on the pole.

Winter fishing for the Pike can be good with plenty of Jacks and occasional doubles with the odd larger fish coming to suspended dead baits.

Local Bye-Laws

  • A 10mph speed limit must be observed in the forest and must be adhered to, regular speed checks are in operation.
  • Swims 7 & 8 – Every day these swims will be closed to fishing between 8:00am and 8:00pm for use by the general public for viewing the pond and duck feeding.
  • No open fires or BBQs of any kind at this fishery – see Bye-law 4.o.i. and 4.o.ii.
  • No fishing on the dam.
