A lovely, mature six-acre gravel pit with a good head of big carp. Although particularly scenic in the summertime, Stillwater has enough features above and below the water to retain interest all year round.

Despite being a prime carp water the lake also attracts the attention of both pleasure and specialist anglers seeking good fish of other species.

The Front Lake holds a good head of Carp both Mirrors and Commons up to 33lbs of which 3 are 30lb+ also a good mixed bag of Bream to 10lb+, Tench to 10lb+ and Perch.

Both lakes hold eels to 6lb+.

Tackle and Tactics

Stillwaters classic lilly beds are attractive to all species, but it is the Carp that are the target on this venue.

Most anglers use standard bottom tactics for the Carp with the successful ones making full use of the typical gravel pit features of margins, bars and silt gulleys.

The Carp attain serious weights on this venue and big baits to dissuade the Bream can be very successful.

Stillwater also offers excellent fishing for Bream and Tench with those that make the effort rewarded with good bags on the feeder or waggler.
