- Chub of 6lb 2oz caught on 13th March 2012 by Peter Jewell from Carters Hill, River Loddon, who added " I baited a deep hole under a tree for a week with small amounts of hemp and pellet. I arrived at the swim at 5.20am and cast out a hair rigged pellet on a nylon hooklink: tangle proof. I started to get knocks and pulls after about 2 hours. The first bite came at 8.40am which resulted in a pb Barbel of exactly 18lb. After I'd dealt with the Barbel and calmed down a bit from the excitment, I recast another pellet into the same spot where at 9.25am a sharp drop back resulted in a brief fight and a new pb Chub of 6lb 2oz. I packed up about 2 hours later with no other bites. It's gonna be a long time before I ever have a session like that again!!!".

- Quite a cold overcast day with a little colour in the river. The flood waters have now receded to within the banks so getting to all the swims is now not a problem. I started the day by walking to peg 1 and the far end and working my way back stopping in a few of the swims I liked the look of. Mainly picking snaggy fallen trees downstream on my bank and placed the bait as near to it as possible and occasionally nudging the bait. Both takes from different swims came after about 10 minutes. Both fish look deceivingly smaller when I was playing them but once brought to the net I noticed how broad they were. The second of the day at about 3:15pm was my new pb Chub of 5lb 1oz. So my new years resolution of catching one over 5lb has already been completed so early on in the year. I think I may as well change that to 6lb now. Lovely stretch of river to be on and disregarding the drone of the M4 is very peaceful and wild.
