Delayed access to and from Lodge Pond – Harvesting Operations at Alice Holt.

Please be aware that as of Monday 4th January 2021, the Forestry Commission will be commencing some tree thinning works, which are scheduled to take place over a period of 5 weeks, so are due to finish by 8th February 2021. The map to the left shows Alice Holt and the dark green blocks represent the stands to be thinned.

The safety of everyone is the main priority, and whilst this essential forestry works takes place there will inevitably be some delays which will affect our access along the track to the car park. The track will still be open, but when the works are taking place between 8.00am and 5.00pm, members may have to wait to use the track, whilst large lumber carrying lorries or forestry machinery are travelling along it. Members must do as instructed by the banksmen who will be manning and controlling the forest track and roads at all times.

The red line on the plan shows the route we use within Alice Holt that will be affected.

Members can easily avoid any delays by ensuring they are parked in our a park before 7.30am or leave the car park after 5.30pm. If visiting during the forestry working hours though, expect delays.

Forestry Commission signs advising of these works should be in our car park and on the gate by the education centre.
